I use it to power several USB hard drives from a 24 volts power supply and it works great even when peak current occurs. It has the usb output but won't charge most devices... unless you just short circuit the 2 data pins, or solder the appropriate resistors. Because the footprint for resisors is here !

Awesome thing! Really gives what is promised! Clean, true 4A at 5V. Awesome for my car charger project. Connected it directly to 12V car network and soldered few USB female outs Now I can charge with full power few devices simultaneously.
