Comes with a CR2032 battery installed -just pull the plastic tab to start using. Unit comes set on Centigrade, easy to switch to Fahrenheit. Easy to hold and inserting into the ear, the tip is small enough to fit in an infant's ear as well as an adult's. Pressing the scan button starts the measured time delay for checking the temperature, less than 2 seconds are needed to complete the reading. The large display is easy to read and holds for one minute before automatically shutting down. The unit holds the last 10 readings in memory. Great little unit, I would recommend it to my friends.
