Works great, very fast heating with T12 tips (about 15 seconds from cold to around 330 degrees) if using a 24v power supply Recommended power supply: 4A To 6A 24V Switching Power Supply Board AC-DC Power Module ID: 969204 As this comes in DIY kit form, obviously you need another soldering iron to build it, this product is great if you already have a basic unregulated soldering iron and wish to upgrade to something way better, with better heat capacity and temperature control; otherwise consider a prebuilt T12 station from BG Iron will lower temperature to 200 degrees (sleep mode) when not in use after few minutes (pick up iron and instantly heats up to set temperature), that's if you installed the vibration switch according to instructions Later iron turns off if it's in sleep mode, 000 in display, to wake up rotate the knob or press the knob button, then it will heat to set temperature The included T12-K tip is better suited for soldering "big" stuff, like wires, maybe some through-hole electronics, not so much for small electronics like SMD, you can find better suited tips for SMD here on Banggood like T12-BCM2 (ID 1148476), T12-ILS (ID: 1074472) Some installation tips if you install on DIY T12 Digital Soldering Iron Station Aluminum Black Shell Case Power Socket Switch ID: 1121499, make sure of the following: 1. Place the red LED respecting polarity (test LED with multimeter in diode mode if not sure about polarity), but don't solder it yet 2. You position correctly the aviation socket on the front panel with the notch facing up (download and read carefully the instructions on this item page), otherwise if you install in incorrect orientation, you have to desolder carefully (preferably use a desolder gun or hot air station), as you can't remove the socket from the front plate afterwards 3. Make sure the temperature control encoder fits perfectly on the front panel without bending the PCB, may need to modify the aluminum front panel with a round file 4. Align the PCB with the front panel, screw the encoder to the front panel, then solder the aviation socket and the LED, make sure it's flush, then tighten it 5. When connecting the wiring harness to the power supply, tie both green and black wires together to the negative of the power supply, and the red wire to the positive There's some extra leftover items: - 3 red and black wires, with some heatshring tubing and "guide line" (brass pins?), not needed if you use ID: 969204 24v power supply - An extra vibration switch, in case you damage or misplace it Pictures are of the assembled product
