kevin Sothe GPS function, can it send a location to other radios, or is it more of a local thing in case you get lost?

As other reviewers have said, the manual in the box is not the one for the radio I received. That being said, it programs (sort of) like the average BaoFeng. Power output on high was 4.67 watts with a SWR of 1.01 on 146.77 MHz (Used a SureCom SW-102 meter for test). Really like the GPS ! Very accurate here in south Florida and the GPS does switch to West Longitudes. Initially, it took about a half minute to lock on to the satellites but after that it was really quick. Oddly there was no "specs" page in the manual. The battery label says "8800 mAh" , probable should read 2800 mAh? The radio battery took a little over an hour to initially charge. Hit the local 2 meter repeater that is 4.5 miles away without a problem from inside the house and one that's 10 miles away when standing outside. The radio's audio output is good and turning up the volume a little over half way, can be heard in a moderately noisy environment. Outside of getting the wrong manual, so far the radio has worked well. I gave it 4 stars only because I could not test out the full functionality of all 52 menu items as the manual only described 32 (and some of those menu descriptions did not correspond with what I was seeing on the radio's display)

Essentially It is a facelifted UV-9R Plus. Battery capacity is still less than 1700mAh, although it is advertised and stated as 2800mAh. The new antenna has better coverage in every spectrum but buying & using a NA-771 instead is a better choice. FM radio reception is quite impressive and its speaker is pretty loud, bigger than the one used at UV-5R, measured almost 120dB! Images courtesy of вива-телеком (Viva-Telecom on YouTube). Experiment done for testing the waterproofness of this radio device showed that it is penetrable, so please don't throw them in a bucket full of water and let it sink there for more than 1-2 seconds... Last but not least the advertised 20W is a joke.

Never had one of these before so I wasn't totally sure what I was getting into. I picked a medium size coil and a piece of random 3/8 all thread I had laying around, and in about 90 seconds or so, it was glowing red. I didn't stay on it too much longer, but it proved a point. How well will this work a year or 5 years from now, no idea. But it's half the price of the competition. If I were to make a change to it, I would reverse the air flow so instead of blowing it at you, it comes in the back where the air should theoretically cleaner, and blow it out the front to help move smoke from the glowing metal away vs sucking it into the gun. It has 3 preformed coils, and one flexible one for getting around objects with no break points, like a water pipe. Overall I am happy.

Q: How can this deliver 12 volt and 1000 watt? thats almost 100 ampere. With these thin cables out from the generator i would assume more like abs max 100 watt output power. Banggod shoulld give more accurate technical information.. Just look at the cables from your cars starter that draw aprox 100 amps, and see how thick that is.

kevin It's probably peak, but you are right. When you look at equivalent sized electric motors the cables aren't much bigger. But you do have a very valid point.
